New extended functionality enables developers to visually author wireless Web content

San Francisco, California and Irving, Texas -- June 26, 2000 -- Macromedia, Inc.

(NASDAQ: MACR), the leading provider of solutions for compelling and effective Web sites, and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) today announced the availability of the Nokia WML Studio for Macromedia(R) Dreamweaver(R) software. The Studio will enable developers to use Macromedia Dreamweaver software, the market-leading visual Web authoring product for professional Web developers, to author Wireless Markup Language (WML) content for delivery to Nokia and other WAP wireless device customers. The Nokia WML Studio for Dreamweaver software fully supports the WML 1.1 standard and is available for free online on the Macromedia Exchange for Dreamweaver software at http://exchange.macromedia.com

The Nokia WML Studio for Macromedia Dreamweaver software enables the 650,000-strong Dreamweaver developer community to create WML decks and cards, insert WBMP images, modify text, and implement anchors and events within the familiar Macromedia Dreamweaver user interface.  The WML Studio allows developers to preview their work on the Nokia phone simulator directly from Dreamweaver software.  The WML Studio tracks the compiled size of WML decks and includes a debugger allowing validation of WML code as it is created.

"I applaud Macromedia's effort in working with Nokia to develop solutions for WAP Forum ratified standards such as WML 1.1,"  said James Fiduccia, senior information architect at Sapient Corporation. "The Nokia WML Studio for Dreamweaver invites developers to create the next generation of content for wireless devices from within the recognizable environment of Dreamweaver, making the transition to this exciting new medium seamless and exciting."

"We see a need for developers and designers alike to have a familiar tool that they can use to create sites to run on multiple platforms, as wireless connections for Internet browsing is going to be a fast-paced ride in the next

2 years," said Neil Wooding, managing director for NetMaster Communications, Ltd. "The Nokia WML Studio for Dreamweaver brings this dream a step closer into the hands of the people who will shape this future."

"The interface for the Nokia WML Studio beta fits into Dreamweaver seamlessly and it will allow us to give our clients an extra dimension to their Web site, particularly portal sites," said David Bishop, design director for Front-Page Design. "All the features are easy to include and we'll be using the studio a lot in the future as WAP phones continue to gain popularity."

Macromedia and Nokia are both members of the WAP Forum, the industry association that has developed the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and WML.

By working together on a Web content development platform for the wireless Internet, the companies are bringing consumers the Internet in presentations suited for the unique handset environment. For more information about WAP, see www.wapforum.org

MACROMEDIA SHIPS GENERATOR 2 ENTERPRISE EDITION

Customers Integrate Macromedia Generator with Leading E-Business Solutions From Vignette, SilverStream Software, And Intershop

San Francisco, California  June 7, 2000  Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR), the leading provider of solutions for compelling and effective Web sites, today announced it is shipping Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition, the first and only high-performance, scalable solution that enables Global 2000 companies to quickly deliver high-impact, data-driven, visual Web content. Leading e-business solutions providers such as Vignette, SilverStream Software, and Intershop can easily extend their e-business infrastructure solutions to deliver real-time visual Web content due to the open architecture of Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition.

Online entertainment destination CheckOut.Com, for example, uses both Macromedia Generator and Vignette  a platform for building online business applications that delivers a combination of content management, personalization, decision support, and enterprise integration services  to deliver frequently changing, unique content to its customers. The combination of products enables CheckOut.Com to deliver a visually appealing site without requiring a legion of artists and integrators.

The SilverStream Application Server allows corporations to rapidly build and deploy standards-basedWeb applications on which they run their businesses.

With

the Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition integration, developers using the SilverStream Application Server can deliver highly visual sites that scale to millions of visitors and instantaneously reflect new information.

CharlotteStreet.com is a portal that uses Macromedia Generator, Macromedia Flash, the SilverStream Application Server, and an Oracle database to deliver the latest news and information. Using placeholders to separate design from content, CharlotteStreet.com uses Macromedia Generator templates to automatically update the portal as new stories are available.

"The combination of Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition and the SilverStream Application Server provides a powerful solution for our mutual customers who want visually-appealing, data-driven Web sites," said Noel Clarke, International Technical Account Manager, SilverStream Software. "It was very easy to integrate the two products as Generator simply makes a URL call to the application server which accesses its Oracle database to grab the required content. Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition then delivers the content fast and automatically."

Intershop is a leading provider of electronic commerce software solutions that enable businesses to sell goods and services over the Internet. Macromedia Generator 2 Enterprise Edition leverages Intershop's content database and e-commerce functionality to deliver dynamic content to site visitors.

Because

of the open architecture and real-time content delivery features in Generator, new products can instantly be reflected on a Web site once they are added to the Intershop database.

Macromedia Generator and Intershop provide a powerful technological combination for the G.I. Joe's online store. Generator transformed the Intershop database information into real-time, colorful, precision-designed Macromedia Flash movies. G.I. Joe's selected Macromedia Generator to deliver a constantly fresh site that doesn't require them to pay a third party for daily updates.

Without

any Web authoring knowledge, and wielding only a Web browser, employees at G.I.

Joe's can update products, prices, and other content components without additional expense.

"Macromedia's dynamic content delivery capabilities offer our customers a simple method to automate the delivery of new or updated items to their customers," said Ed Callan, Vice President, Marketing, Intershop Communications. Proving Darwin Making Darwin Mathematical

In my computer programming career it is the computer or media brainwashing the population on every new heterogeneous release of software until it matures or reaches it end of support Take for instance Windows Server 2012 R2 and Azure Arc. Democrats are skipping Windows 10 And using Windows Server 2012 R2 and Extended Security Updates in Azure Arc for good UI and design and upgrading to Microsoft Windows 11. Microsoft did not end their 10 year support they just branded it to Internet of things.

I put a market call on Microsoft in the year 2029 for republicans Mutating Software will be rejected. Stuttering or a Lisp is simply the fear of God and there are more stuttering children in the bible belt.

In the heart of the proof:

Omega equals the summation program P halts times two raised to the negative size of the hits of P. Or a web server.

The State of Entertainment: Social Media vs Traditional Media

Creators are walking away from million dollar streaming deals.

Andrew Schulz and Yes Theory are great examples:

1. Andrew Schulz took his life savings and bought back the rights to his comedy special after the streaming service expressed their intentions of cutting out parts of his jokes.

2. Yes Theory cut ties with a streaming service due to creative differences after the platform provided

$1,250,000 in funding for the post-production of their feature length documentary Project Iceman.

The Results:

1. Andrew Schulz stated that he made 3x the money he put into his special a few weeks after he self-released it on his website and on Youtube.

2. Yes Theory went on a worldwide theatrical tour for their documentary and sold out every single screening they had.

 The Lesson:

Many creators who have already amassed a large audience understand that distributors are not always needed to release their projects. Especially when they feel boxed in by the streamer's creative control.

The idea here is that you take the risk by owning the rights to your work. This means that if it fails, you lose because you're 100% responsible.

But you also gain creative freedom and potential economic upside if the project financially succeeds.

Streaming services are great and without them we wouldn't have some of the best shows and movies ever made. (One of my favorites being Ted Lasso on Apple TV+.)

But, these services are competing with free distribution platforms that have no barrier to entry such as Youtube, Tiktok and others.

You win some, you lose some. Interesting stuff.

What I’ve learned about the industry:

I’ve been working in media and entertainment for about 7 years now.

When I was a teenager, I would dream of one day going to Hollywood. I wanted to “make it” by working on high budget movie productions alongside big names and major studios.

That dream of mine is still present. But the older I got the more I realized how tremendously difficult it is to break into this industry.

The new state of entertainment allows the everyday person from anywhere in the world to create and publish without the need for someone to give permission to do so.

As a Canadian myself, packing my bags and going to Hollywood is very difficult to do because of Visa issues, and other international restrictions for non-US workers.

Today, I don’t have to worry about that anymore. I can focus on working from anywhere I want while connecting with people from the entertainment industries through Youtube, Tiktok, and other online platforms.

Everyone creates content and art nowadays because of how easy it is to do so. The low-barrier of entry we have today lends a voice to everyone in the world willing to say something. That’s a powerful and wonderful thing, and I am here for it.

I love cinema and I can’t wait to make something for the big screen one day. But, I appreciate and love the creator industry a lot and I see space for both to coexist.
